Mayor Julian Castro and Councilman Diego Bernal joined the Pride Center San Antonio Board to cut the ribbon officially opening the new center. It was a great day with music, food, and many supporting groups in attendance to show support for the community.
Pride Center San Antonio’s mission is to serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV communities by connecting them and their families to community resources and organizations related to health, wellness, support, education, activities, and advocacy.

In 1992, a group of Houston lesbians became aware of national research showing lesbians at increased risk for breast, lung, ovarian and other cancers, as well as heart disease and stroke. Determined to help reverse this trend, the esbian Health Initiative of Houston was formed. For nearly 20 years, LHI has been eliminating barriers to healthcare for LGBT-identified women by providing health and wellness information and services through education, access and advocacy programs.
